Javad Wahadat, PhD student at the department of Immunology and Pediatric Rheumatology, received in July 2022 an award from the NVLE Fonds. The NVLE is the organisation for patients with lupus, antiphospholipid syndrome and scleroderma. Javad was honoured for his in depth immunological studies of childhood systemic lupus erythematosus aiming at improvement of treatment by identification of the underlying immunological abnormalities. He also contributed to the establishment of the CHILL-NL cohort study.  For this national cohort study all seven academic centers in the Netherlands collect samples from children with SLE aiming at improvement of disease management of this rare disease.
